What is Link?

Link is Project Gerson’s commitment to radical transparency. It gives anyone direct access to the information behind our work, including how we spend money, what our programs do, what we measure, and what we learn. Rather than asking you to trust our interpretation, Link is designed to let you explore the record for yourself.

The Data

Financial

Explore how Project Gerson receives, manages, and uses its resources. Financial data includes revenue, expenses, grants, program costs, and other information that helps show where our money comes from and where it goes.

Operational

See what Project Gerson is actually doing day to day. Operational data includes participation, enrollment, attendance, events, volunteer activity, staffing, training, and other measures of how our programs function.

Outcomes

Understand what is changing as a result of the work. Outcomes may include academic growth, program completion, participation over time, milestones, and other measures that help us evaluate whether our efforts are making a meaningful difference.

Research

Explore how we study, test, and improve our work. We share research methods, measures, findings, and, when appropriate, underlying data so others can examine what we are learning, including results that do not turn out as expected.

Ask Link

Ask anything about Project Gerson's data using your own words.
Here are a few example questions:

Did students with higher attendance also show greater academic growth?
Show Project Gerson’s total volunteer hours by month for the past year.
Which events had the highest participation relative to their financial cost and volunteer hours?
How much did Project Gerson spend on school supplies last year, and how did that compare with the previous year?
How much did the chess program cost per participant for the last 3 tournaments?
Show total donations by year for the past three years, including the year-over-year percentage change.
What were the average age and average ELO rating of participants in the last three chess tournaments?
Which Project Gerson interventions have shown the strongest results so far, and which have not performed as expected?
Which interventions appear to produce the strongest outcomes relative to their cost?
Do students who volunteer more also participate more consistently in academic or extracurricular programs?

These are only examples.
Link is designed to answer questions in your own words using the data available.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Link?

Link is Project Gerson’s public transparency platform. It gives anyone access to information about our finances, operations, outcomes, and research so they can explore the record for themselves.

Why does Project Gerson publish this information?

We believe transparency should be built into how an organization operates, not provided only when someone asks for it. Our goal is to make meaningful information available by default and give others the ability to examine our work independently.

Is all of Project Gerson’s information public?

No. Transparency does not mean publishing everything. We protect information when disclosure could compromise the privacy, dignity, or safety of children, families, staff, volunteers, donors, or partners, or when legal, contractual, or research obligations require confidentiality.

How current is the information in Link?

Different types of information may be updated on different schedules. Financial information, for example, may be published after monthly reconciliation, while program, outcome, and research data may be updated after relevant reporting or measurement periods.

Can I see individual transactions?

Where appropriate, Link may allow users to explore financial information down to detailed categories or individual sanitized transactions. Personally identifying information, private notes, payment information, and other sensitive details are removed before publication.

Does Project Gerson publish unsuccessful results?

Yes. Link is intended to reflect the record, not simply highlight successes. When programs, events, or interventions do not produce the results we hoped for, those results remain part of what we share and learn from.

Can I download the data?

Where practical and appropriate, we intend to make underlying public datasets available for independent analysis. Some information may be aggregated or restricted when necessary to protect privacy or comply with research or legal requirements.

Can I ask questions about the data?

Our goal is for Link to allow visitors not only to browse reports but also to ask questions about Project Gerson’s public information in plain language and receive answers grounded in the underlying data and published sources.

How does Project Gerson protect children and families while being transparent?

Information about the organization should be open. Information about individual people should be protected. We anonymize, aggregate, generalize, or withhold information when publication could identify someone or create a risk to their privacy, dignity, or safety.

What if I find an error?

We want the public record to be accurate. If you believe information published through Link is incorrect or incomplete, we encourage you to contact Project Gerson so we can review it and make corrections when appropriate.
